Set on the banks of Norway's Alta River, Arctic Wilderness Lodge combines modern Scandinavian design, panoramic views and a whole host of unique arctic experiences. It's a truly idyllic base from which to enjoy Alta's pristine wilderness year-round. In summer, enjoy hikes beneath the endless glow of the Midnight Sun, while in winter, experience the thrill of snow-based adventures under the Northern Lights. What's more, the neighbouring Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel offers a fantastic addition to your lodge stay, with the chance to spend a night on reindeer furs in an igloo room carved from ice and snow.

Eat

Sorrisniva prides itself on authentic culinary experiences, and Maku Restaurant is fine-dining at its very best. Treat yourself to unique region dishes with only the freshest locally sourced ingredients, from the nearby tundras, rivers and local farms. Whether you try reindeer and moose, or prefer fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables, Maku provides a culinary adventure you tastebuds will savour. Also on site, the original Lavvu Restaurant will tantalize the senses, where the culinary team strives to innovate and improve upon local traditions and seasonal specialties.

Sleep

With only 24 rooms, you can expect your stay to offer an intimate setting to unwind and relax on either that romantic Arctic break or that multi-generation gettogether. Whether you stay in river rooms, suites or premium suites, each room will enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows and private decks offer captivating views of the Alta River and the local forests, where aurora and moose sightings are not uncommon. Each room effortlessly combines natural wood interiors reminiscent of log cabins with elegantly designed European bathrooms into a memorable stay in the remote wilderness.

Do

Open all year round, guest can now experience the unique Arctic activities that vary alongside the seasons. During the warmer months and extended daylight hours, you can hike the locally mark trails, explore the remote region by UTV vehicles and cruise the Alta River on a riverboat experience. And, if you time your trip right, you can do it all under the mesmerising Midnight Sun. For more classic experiences, travel during the winter months and head out on husky safaris, Northern Lights hunts, snowshoeing adventures and thrilling snowmobile rides. Also during the winter months you can combine your warm lodge stay with a night or two in an ice room at the Igloo Hotel next door. Arctic Wilderness Lodge's brand new spa also provides an option of pampering within the lodge.
