Day 1 » UK to Arctic Wilderness Lodge
Flying out to Alta, you'll be dropped straight into the heart of the Norwegian Arctic. A brief shared transfer will take you to the Arctic Wilderness Lodge, perched suitably on the banks of the beautiful Alta river. With a modern lounge, restaurant and bar area, it perfectly combines contemporary Scandic design with rustic authenticity. check in to your stylish river view room, offering a magnificent floor to ceiling panorama over the river and surrounding wilderness. This evening, enjoy a delicious 3-course fine-dining menu in Maku restaurant.

Day 2 » King Crab Fishing Experience
Following breakfast, start with a visit to Alta fjord where, accompanied by an experience local guide, you will set out for the chance to fish for the region’s prized delicacy – the king crab. After your trip on the fjord, you'll make your way back to the hotel’s Lavvu restaurant with you fresh catch for a well-earned king crab lunch. After a free afternoon, relish an authentic 5-course dinner featuring anything from reindeer and moose from the tundra to seafood from the Alta river, all locally sourced. This evening, head out on a stroll, perhaps to a nearby waterfall for gorgeous views before ending the day with a relaxing beer under the Midnight Sun.

Day 3 » Guided hike, river boat adventure to Alta Canyon, outdoor sauna & Jacuzzi
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before setting off on a guided hike in the nearby forest, during which you'll be treated to magnificent views of the valley that Arctic Wilderness Lodge calls home. Along the way, you'll hear interesting stories that'll deepen your understanding and appreciation of the region's nature and culture, followed by lunch in a traditional 'lavvu' tent.
Then, in the afternoon, you'll embark on an included boat excursion to Alta Canyon. Setting off by traditional riverboat, you'll travel against the current of the Alta River and power through exciting rapids accompanied by jaw-dropping pine forest landscapes and lush green hills before reaching Gabonakken, where the breath-taking Alta Canyon dominates the landscape. Along the way, you might even catch a glimpse of golden eagles hovering over the treetops. Waffles and coffee are served on your return. In the evening, savour a delicious three-course meal showcasing the finest ingredients from Arctic Norway at Maku Restaurant before relaxing those muscles with your own 2-hour outdoor sauna & Jacuzzi experience.

Day 4 » Guided hike to Alta Canyon
Having visited by boat yesterday, today you'll return to the majestic Alta Canyon – this time on foot. Set off on a guided hike this morning, exploring the Finnmark mountain plateau where you're bound to find wild blueberries and lingonberries, and possibly even cloudberries, often nicknamed 'Finnmark's gold'. These highly sought-after berries are renowned for their fresh, sweet and slightly tart taste, as well as being rich in vitamin C. It's a relatively long but manageable hike, and the views of Northern Europe's largest canyon are truly spectacular. A packed lunch of local produce is included. Later on, back at base, round off your trip in memorable fashion with a sublime eight-course culinary experience at Maku Restaurant.
