Set high in a beautiful pine forest, 60 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle outside the small village of Harads, are eight unique treehouses each created by a different architect. This is a hotel unlike any other on earth, mixing modernist, minimalist design and back-to nature values with childhood fantasies of sleeping amongst the treetops.

Eat

If you can tear yourself away from your treetop accommodation, you'll find the delightfully cosy Brittas Restaurant serving all manner of Arctic delights. It really is home cooking at its best, with the likes of Arctic char, Caviar of Kalix (also known as Red Gold), salmon, moose and reindeer showcasing the region's finest and freshest ingredients.

Sleep

Each individually themed treehouse is equipped with under-floor heating, a sink and an environmentally friendly toilet. Showers and meals are taken in the hotel's main house. The Tree Sauna is a wonderful addition and makes for a welcome retreat after a day exploring the surrounding landscapes. Launching in May 2022, the Treehotel's latest room – the Biosphere – is a fantastic piece of architecture, focused on sustainable travel and conservation of local bird populations. With a facade of 340 wooden bird nests, you'll enjoy 360 degree views as local birds come and go from their nests, a fantastic connection with nature. There are also a few rooms at the hotel's centre – Brittas Guesthouse.

Do

Open all year round, guests can experience the varying climates and seasons of this stunning part of Scandinavia, from the snowy winters with majestic displays of the Northern Lights, to the midnight sun in the summer months. There's a wealth of activities available depending on what time of year you happen to be staying, with winter offering up horse and sleigh excursions, dog sledding and skiing. In summer and autumn, trekking, mountain biking and fishing are just some of the available options. For all stays, guests will be treated to a tour of the hotel.
