Sleep at the world-famous ICEHOTEL, marvel at the auroras

» 4 day tailor-made break

» Price from: £745

Explore spectacular Swedish Lapland during autumn, a magical time of ripening berries, landscapes painted in vibrant shades of orange and yellow and, of course, crisp nights under the new season's Northern Lights. Experience a stay at the iconic ICEHOTEL alongside days spent ice sculpting, fishing, white water rafting and foraging in forests where you'll have the pick of nature's pantry. And, between delicious meals at the ICEHOTEL's gourmet restaurants, where you'll tuck into the likes of moose and fish caught fresh from the Torne River, there's still time to relax with a traditional sauna session before heading outside to hunt for the aurora in the clear autumn skies.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » UK to ICEHOTEL

Fly to Kiruna, via Stockholm, and board your included shuttle transfer to the ICEHOTEL. Take in its spectacular carvings, intricately created by artists from around the world, then, check into your exquisite art suite at the ICEHOTEL's year-round iteration. After collecting your thermal clothing, available for the duration of your stay, perhaps enjoy a forest stroll before heading to dinner at the ICEHOTEL Restaurant. Then, return to your suite, keeping toasty in your Arctic sleeping bag on a frozen bed covered in reindeer hides as you settle in for one of the most memorable hotel experiences around.

    Stay: ICEHOTEL 365

  • Day 2 » Optional excursions & Northern Lights safari

Wake up to a steaming glass of lingonberry juice, then head to the communal sauna before a hearty breakfast. The bulk of today is left free for optional excursions, so perhaps head out on a river rafting trip, stopping along the way on the island of Puonojokk for lunch by an open fire and a classic fika. Or, hike through the surrounding birch forests, the moss-lined trails sprinkled in vibrant hues of red and orange. Then, check into one of ICEHOTEL's warm rooms before dinner. Why not upgrade to the ice menu, featuring the likes of Vendace roe from Kalix, Arctic char and fillet of reindeer with Jägermeister sauce, all served on a bed of ice? It’s all a wonderful prelude to an included Northern Lights safari, where you'll learn of the aurora's origins and folklore before enjoying hot coffee around an open fire.

  • Day 3 » Optional excursions

Today is left free for more optional excursions. Perhaps join an ice sculpting class, or test your wilderness skills with a guided trip into the forest where you'll learn how to find shelter, forage for food and even start your own camp fire. Or, let someone else do the cooking on a wilderness dinner excursion, featuring a three-course menu inspired by autumn's pantry; you'll head out to a remote camp by boat, where, with luck, you might just spot the Northern Lights. Be sure to round off your day with a cocktail or two at the hotel's famous ICEBAR.

  • Day 4 » Depart for home

Enjoy your final morning at ICEHOTEL with a stroll through the forest before taking the shuttle service back to the airport in time for your return flight home.
