Tucked away among forests and meadows near the southern tip of Gotland, Sibbjäns is a beautifully renovated 19th-century farmstead that invites guests to discover the idyllic countryside and laid-back pace of life on Sweden’s largest (and sunniest) island. It’s a perfect place to slow down, disconnect from everyday routines and immerse yourself in nature, with opportunities for scenic hikes, bike rides, fishing and kayaking. Seasonal, locally-sourced cuisine is at the heart of the experience, with farm-to-fork dining based on fresh produce from the gardens and nearby artisanal producers.
Eat
The restaurant at Sibbjäns offers a five-course menu that showcases the freshest, seasonal produce from Gotland. Expect the likes of delicious fish and seafood, local cheeses, and herbs and vegetables grown in the farmstead’s gardens. A lighter bistro menu is also available for outdoor dining, while a special beach lunch or dinner can be arranged for groups of 10 or more. A delicious breakfast is also served daily, featuring fresh fruit, local yoghurt and cheeses, bread, pastries and more.
Sleep
Sibbjäns features 22 rooms in total, split between The Farmhouse and The Bunkhouse. Farmhouse rooms are the most spacious, fitted with vintage furnishings that perfectly compliment the building’s heritage, along with ultra-comfortable Mille Notti featherbed mattress toppers, Egyptian cotton bed linen, and water-saving Orbital showers. Bunkhouse rooms are smaller, but still full of character and each equipped with a private patio overlooking either the barn-turned-restaurant or open meadows.
Do
All stays at Sibbjäns include access to a wood-fired sauna, a natural pool, an outdoor gym and bikes to explore the surrounding area – so you can find your own perfect balance between relaxation and adventure. Yoga sessions, massages, cooking classes and wine tastings are also hosted on-site, while a wide range of activities are available off-site, including the likes of fishing, horseback riding, kayaking and birdwatching.
