Immerse yourself in the serene, snow-covered landscapes of Swedish Lapland on this enchanting winter break. You’ll be staying in a cosy glass igloo on the edge of a forest just outside Luleå, with full-board dining at the nearby lodge throughout your stay. A snowmobile safari and a guided snowshoe hike with a campfire lunch will provide the perfect introduction to the Arctic wilderness, and with a little luck, you might see the Northern Lights casting their ethereal green glow as they dance across the night sky. There’s also ample time for relaxation, including a Nordic spa experience with access to outdoor hot tubs and a sauna.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » Depart for Swedish Lapland

Your trip begins with a flight to Stockholm, from which you’ll take an internal connecting flight to Luleå in Swedish Lapland. On arrival, an included transfer will take you from the airport to Ice and Light Village, where you’ll check into your glass igloo accommodation. Tucked away on the edge of a forest, the igloos comprises an inner cabin within a transparent dome, and each one comes with underfloor heating, a seating area and a private bathroom. Later on, head over to the nearby lodge for a delicious, quintessentially Swedish dinner featuring quality local produce served in a cosy, intimate setting. Depending on your arrival time, you might also have time for an evening excursion – or you may prefer to simply relax by the fireplace. Before heading to bed, remember to keep an eye out to see whether the Northern Lights are active.

  • Day 2 » Snowmobile safari & aurora spa

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before venturing out on a thrilling snowmobile adventure, in which you’ll glide across frozen lakes and take in the serene, snow-blanketed landscapes of Swedish Lapland. There's also the option of upgrading to an extended trip, which includes a barbecue lunch cooked over an open fire. The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure, perhaps making use of a kick-sled (complimentary throughout your stay) to explore the enchanting forest. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing soak in an outdoor hot tub and, if you’re feeling brave, take an invigorating plunge in the ice tub before retreating to the warmth of the sauna. This Nordic wellness experience will leave you feeling wonderfully refreshed. While bathing in the hot tub, you might be fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights dancing in the night sky.

Having experienced snowmobiling, today you’ll have the opportunity to explore the area at a more leisurely pace on a guided snowshoe hike. Wearing these lightweight, wide-framed shoes, you can traverse areas of deep snow that would otherwise be inaccessible. Along the way, you’ll learn about the unique nature and outdoor lifestyle of people in Swedish Lapland, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot moose or reindeer along the way. At lunch, you’ll be shown how to make a campfire in sub-zero temperatures and enjoy a warming meal before heading back. Enjoy one final dinner at the lodge this evening and, if you fancy, feel free to book an aurora hunt by snowmobile – a fantastic way to cap off your Arctic adventure.
