With a private sauna and roaring log fire, this is a cabin getaway all grown up, complete with a full range of included excursions. Alongside exploring Finnish Lapland’s snowy wilds by snowmobile and husky sled, you’ll also experience ice fishing and perhaps even don a dry suit to float in a frozen lake under the Northern Lights. Lastly, with gourmet dining included, dinners are joined by magical displays of the aurora, conditions permitting.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1 » UK/Rovaniemi
Flying out to the depths of Finnish Lapland, you’ll be met at the airport and brought, through the forests, to your gorgeous timber-panelled cabin. It’s a delight of Scandinavian cosiness, warmed by roaring fireplaces and host to its very own private sauna. You’ll also begin your indulgent half-board dining. Although you’ll enjoy such local delicacies as creamy crayfish soup and roasted deer in butter-port sauce whenever you visit, those travelling after the 5th January are treated to canopy-level views at the superb Sky Kitchen.
Stay: Ounasvaaran Lakituvat, Finnish Lapland

Day 2 » Snowmobiling and ice fishing
Today’s included excursion pairs two classic Arctic activities. Saddling up, you’ll snowmobile out along frozen rivers and forest trails to a winter fishing spot, where you’ll be taught how to drill a hole in the ice and cast a line. Your host will then prepare an outdoor soup lunch with, hopefully, your catch of the day. Then, in the evening, perhaps try something truly unique – an optional aurora floating excursion.

Day 3 » Husky sledding
Between your included dining, today is given over to dogsledding. You’ll once again be brought out into the Lapland remotes, this time heading to a husky farm where you’ll have a chance to meet your oh-so-eager dogs. Then, mushing out along the trails, you’ll experience the Finnish countryside at its Silent-Night best, swapping with your partner halfway through so you can enjoy both the passengers’ view and the thrill of taking the reins. Returning to your cabin, you’ll want to turn on the wood burner on and relax, perhaps taking a break in your private sauna. Be sure to also keep your eyes peeled for the Northern Lights.
