Set on the edge of the frozen Bothnian archipelago, Brändön Lodge offers an enchanting winter break filled with Arctic adventure and festive wonder. Days will unfold in a landscape of snow‑laden forests, where husky sleds race across frozen lakes, snowmobiles trace silent trails and reindeer graze beneath pastel skies. You’ll meet a local Sami herder, share stories by the fire and step into the stillness of the forest for a private meeting with Santa himself. What's more, with cosy cabins, hearty Nordic dining and the chance to glimpse the Northern Lights, this is Swedish Lapland at its most magical.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » Arrival in Swedish Lapland

Touch down in Luleå, where your driver awaits for the short journey to Brändön Lodge, a cluster of timber cabins overlooking the frozen archipelago. After check‑in, you’ll be fitted with your full winter clothing kit – yours to use throughout your stay – before settling into your cosy cabin. As evening falls, enjoy a three‑course dinner showcasing local flavours in the lodge restaurant. Afterwards, perhaps wander out into the crisp night air; with luck, the sky may reward you with your first glimpse of the Northern Lights.

    Stay: Brandon Lodge, Swedish Lapland

  • Day 2 » Husky sledding & snowmobiling

After breakfast, it’s time for your first adventure: an exhilarating husky sledding experience. At a nearby kennel, home to around 60 eager huskies, you’ll meet your team and learn the basics of mushing before setting off across frozen lakes and forest trails. Travelling two per sled, you’ll take turns driving and soaking up the silence of the wilderness, stopping along the way for coffee and stories of life as a musher.

Return to the lodge for lunch before heading out again, this time by snowmobile. Following your guide along established trails, you’ll glide through snow‑blanketed forests and across the ice, pausing for a traditional fika – warm drinks and sweet treats enjoyed in the stillness of the forest. Round off the day with another three‑course dinner back at the lodge.

  • Day 3 » Reindeers & private Santa experience

This morning brings a memorable encounter with Sami culture. Meeting local herder Jon‑Anders, you’ll step into the reindeer enclosure to learn about the eight seasons of the Sami year and the deep connection between people, animals and the land. Walk among the reindeer, listen to stories of traditional life and gather inside a warm tent for tea and a fireside lunch.

Later, you’ll follow a short trail through the snowy forest for the start of your private Santa experience. The setting feels wonderfully peaceful out here, far from any noise or lights, with only the crunch of snow underfoot as you walk between the trees. Before long, the children will spot it – a warm glow ahead, shining from Santa’s cabin. Inside, Santa is waiting to welcome your family, taking time to chat, present personalised gifts you’ve arranged in advance and make the moment feel personal. After your visit, you’ll warm up with a hot drink before returning to the lodge for dinner. This exclusive experience is reserved entirely for your group, so everything runs at your own pace with Santa’s full attention.
