This winter itinerary combines two of Swedish Lapland’s design gems – the iconic Treehotel and the all-new Arctic Bath. You’ll begin with the former, a collection of art-installation cabins hidden in the boreal forests of Harads, just a short hop south of the Arctic Circle. You’ll have a full day to explore, taking to the wintry wilds on a full range of optional activities, taking in the snow-laden wilderness and, with luck, the Northern Lights. It’s then just a short transfer to Sweden’s newest and coolest winter retreat – Arctic Bath. Expect a complete change of pace as you settle in for a day of relaxing saunas, optional treatments at the hotel spa and gourmet dining inspired by the region and showcased in an included five-course feast.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » UK/Treehotel

Fly to Lulea and transfer to Treehotel where you’ll check in for two unforgettable nights in the pine-forest canopy. On arrival, you’ll be allocated one of eight architect-designed cabins, which range from the otherworldly UFO and the camouflaged Mirror Cube to the aptly named 7th Room and the all-new Biosphere, which features a facade of 340 bird nests – this is a place of childhood fantasies made real. In the evening, enjoy an included two-course dinner of regional specialities; expect the likes of smoked reindeer with cloudberries or succulent Arctic char.

    Stay: Treehotel, Sweden

    Meals: Dinner

  • Day 2 » Optional activities at Treehotel

Wake to views of the forest canopy, then head to breakfast to fuel up for a day of Arctic fun. Indeed, you’ll have a whole host of optional activities at your disposal, from classic husky safaris and snowmobile adventures to ice fishing trips and wildlife photography tours. And, as darkness descends, don’t forget to watch out for the Northern Lights dancing in the skies overhead. Your day ends with another included two-course dinner and a final night in your temporary treetop home.

    Stay: Treehotel, Sweden

    Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 3 » Arctic Bath

Enjoy a free morning at Treehotel, perhaps taking the chance for another excursion. Then, it’s time to swap an all-time Scandi icon for the region’s new kid on the block as you transfer the short distance to Arctic Bath. This is high design at its absolute best, a modernist retreat suspended in ice above the Lule River. Its distinctive design is a nod to Swedish Lapland’s logging heritage while its twelve guest rooms are the epitome of contemporary cool. And, after your day of adventure at Treehotel, your stay here is a study in indulgent relaxation, played out first in the spa, where we’ve included a two-hour spa ritual complete with amenity kit and access to the sauna and baths, and later at the restaurant, where you’ll be treated to a five-course feast based on the finest and freshest local ingredients.

    Stay: Arctic Bath, Harads

    Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 4 » Depart for UK

After a final breakfast at Artic Bath, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
