The Scandic Nidelven is Trondheim's best contemporary hotel, providing quality 4-star accommodation right on the Nidelva riverfront. Overlooking the main artery of the town, the hotel has a tranquil setting just a few minutes’ walk from many vibrant cafes and other attractions. Also close by is the train station, which gives direct access to the airport and also to a stunning coastal journey that meanders around the rocky headlands and fjords of northern Norway.

Eat

You can't talk about the food at the Scandic Nidelven without mentioning the fact that the hotel has won the award for Norway's best breakfast seven years running. Your complimentary meal to begin the day can be chosen from all manner of spreads, hot and cold, Norwegian and continental, carnivorous and vegetarian. For the rest of the day, the Restaurant Nidelven serves an international array of tasty foods, with a lunchtime buffet and an evening à la carte and 6-course tasting menu.

Sleep

All the rooms at the Scandic Nidelven are decorated in a tasteful contemporary style with comfy furniture and en-suite bathrooms. The small Standard rooms are always popular, but if you want more space and views of the Nidelva river, opt for the larger Superior.

Do

If you're an active person you'll love Trondheim. The gorgeous mountains that surround the town have a superb network of hiking trails, and during winter a thick layer of snow allows for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and more. In the hotel itself, there’s a health and fitness centre to keep the heart pumping throughout your stay. If you prefer things a little more sedate then simply head out into town to one of the many excellent pubs and restaurants.
