As the tallest building in northern Norway, you’ll be treated to spectacular views of Bodo’s coastal setting, not least from its superb sky bar and restaurant. Rooms are equally impressive, especially those on higher floors, while its seafront setting makes it ideal for any number of water-based excursions.
Eat
Dining at the Scandic Havet promises to be a special highlight. Its Roast restaurant and bar is ideally positioned on the hotel’s 18th floor, offering truly panoramic views of Bodo and its ocean backdrop. Even the dishes are informed by its setting, with the seafood sourced from local suppliers and always a favourite. Its signature dish, however? The Roast Board – a generous selection of meats prepared over a coal grill. Then, for breakfast, make your way to the first floor and Havneutsikten, which aims to serve “the best hotel breakfast in Norway”. It’s ambitious, but, in between the likes of fresh fish and fruits it might just make it. Takeaways are also available for those early-morning expeditions.
Sleep
The Scandic Havet takes full advantage of its pretty setting, with giant picture windows showcasing views of the sea and city. It’s a sight improved, in many of the rooms, by the addition of plush armchairs and king-size beds, while the likes of wooden flooring and FACE shower amenities round off the Scandi-chic experience. All rooms also come with complimentary WiFi, although upgrades add in the likes of superior views and family layouts. The suites are a particular favourites for their panoramic, 17th-floor vistas.
Do
From its quayside position, you’ll be ideally perched for everything from fishing trips and sea-eagle safaris. However, if you haven’t got enough exercise with the nearby hikes, make use of the well-equipped gym. It’s the perfect way to recover from any bar excesses; the Scandic Havet’s penthouse watering hole is, after all, one of northern Norway’s finest. You’ll be able to drink in the floor-to-ceiling views with a range of beverages, both classic and innovative.
