This ultra-modern hotel is deservedly popular, not least for its slick rooms and super central location, right by the water. The excellent facilities are another draw, not least the city’s only sky bar, which serves up predictably astounding views. There’s also a superb Manhattan-themed restaurant, showcasing seasonal menus created by acclaimed chef Marcus Samuelsson. And, the lively lounge bar and café are a hit with the locals, lending a vibrant edge to what has become one of the city’s most fashionable meeting places.
Eat
At one of Tromso's largest hotels, the eating options are as varied as you’d expect. The Kitchen & Table restaurant promises 'fun dining' and fine food in an informal setting. Chef Marcus Samuelson combines the best of north Norwegian cuisine with the sophisticated cool of Manhattan for a memorable experience, which is made better still if bookended by the great cocktails and views in the 11th floor Skybar.
Sleep
The Clarion is thoroughly contemporary, so expect a seamless stay. Moderate Double rooms may seem a little compact, so opt for the more spacious Standard Double or treat yourself to a stay in a Deluxe Double, which provides a work space and an area dedicated to relaxing. The large Junior Suites are the best rooms available, with panoramic views of the surrounding fjords.
Do
The entire hotel is a grand living space, the ground floor transformed into a vibrant open-plan patchwork of lounges and cafés decorated with chic contemporary art. This, the gym and Skybar are more than enough reasons to remain on site, but once you venture through the front doors the frosty delights of Tromso and the Arctic Circle await.
