Day 1 » UK/Bergen
Flying out to Norway’s second city, you’ll make your way to your handpicked accommodation. The Thon Orion is a slice of Scandi modernism among Bergen’s rich heritage; the city’s timber harbourfront and the pastel architecture of the town square are just a stone’s throw away. They’re views taken in by your hotel’s rooftop terrace, where you might want to take your complimentary breakfast the next day.

Day 2 » Bergen
Today you’ll explore Bergen at your leisure. Of course, the UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf demands the most attention; it’s a vestige of the centuries-old Hanseatic trading league whose pretty wooden warehouses are now given over to boutiques and art galleries. Otherwise, get yourself warmed up for tomorrow with a trip on the Fløibanen. It’s a funicular that brings you up to spectacular views of the city and its fjord frame, best paired with a gentle hike along the summit. The cable car to Ulriken is equally scenic, and a favourite for its accompanying mountain-top restaurant.

Day 3 » Fjord active adventure
You’ll begin your exploration of the surrounding fjords and mountains with a scenic rail trip, winding along a verdant valley before arriving at the remote mountain station of Myrdal. Here, you’ll change for the famous Flåm Railway, descending alongside rushing waters and dense forests to arrive at Berekvam, where you’ll cycle downhill to Flåm’s village idyll as your guide points out the best viewpoints as you go. There’s then the chance to explore the dramatic fjord setting with a boat safari, bringing you past sheer granite walls to arrive at Gudvangen and your sea-kayaking adventure. Slipping along shimmering fjord waters, you’ll pause only for a barbecue lunch before your bus transfer to Voss with a stop at Stalheimskleiva Road. View the beautiful, hairpin bends and the spectacular view of the valley followed by your return train leg back to Bergen.
