The small, picturesque village of Flåm is nestled deep in a tributary of the world's longest and deepest fjord, Sognefjord. It marks the end of the spectacular Flåm Railway, a track that climbs nearly 900m from fjord to mountaintop, spiralling through tunnels cut into the rock and exposing passengers to breathtaking views. Surrounded by steep mountainsides, roaring waterfalls and deep valleys, it's a wonderful place to stop for a few nights on the Norway in a Nutshell® by Fjord Tours route. A great day out is to take the train to Myrdal, hire bikes and freewheel back Flåm with the views stretching out before you.
