Couples may wish to spend a rare night in one of a number of ice hotels in the region, a great idea for a romantic Valentine's Day trip. Alternatively, this is the most popular time to go skiing in the Nordics. While central Europe has a more notable ski scene, the Nordics do have a number of resorts dotted around the region on a smaller scale. Think the likes of Levi and Ukkohalla in Finland, or further south Geilo and Myrkdalen in the Norwegian mountains.
