Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » Fly to Iceland (10 August 2026)

Fly to Keflavik Airport and begin your adventure in the Land of Fire and Ice. On arrival, take a shuttle transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik – depending on your arrival time, consider exploring the old city centre, visiting a local museum, or unwinding in the serene waters of the Sky Lagoon – a modern geothermal spa on the edge of Reykjavik. Enjoy dinner at your leisure in one of the city’s many cosy restaurants or cafés.

    Stay: Hotel Klettur (or similar)

  • Day 2 » Golden Circle & Solar Eclipse lecture (11 August 2026)

After breakfast, meet your guide and fellow adventurers and set off on a full day exploring Iceland’s iconic Golden Circle. This classic route showcases some of the country’s most celebrated geological wonders. First, head to the Geysir geothermal area, where bubbling mud pots and steaming vents surround the regularly erupting Strokkur geyser, which sends a plume of hot water skyward every 5–10 minutes. Then, continue to the majestic Gullfoss waterfall—one of Iceland’s most photographed natural landmarks. Its two-tiered cascade plunges into a rugged canyon, and walkways offer dramatic views from several angles. Your final stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in both natural and political history. Walk through the rift valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart, and learn how this site was the original meeting place of Iceland’s historic parliament, the Althing.

In the late afternoon, travel to the scenic Borgarfjörður region in West Iceland before attending an engaging eclipse seminar in the town of Borgarnes in the evening. Led by a team of expert astronomers and geologists, the talk will cover what to expect during tomorrow’s celestial event and offer deeper insight into the science behind eclipses. Enjoy a welcome drink and a delicious 2-course dinner with your group before settling into your hotel.

  • Day 3 » Day of the Solar Eclipse (12 August 2026)

Today is a special day as you'll get to witness the 2026 Solar Eclipse. However, first, depart for the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, home to dramatic coastlines, lava fields, picturesque fishing villages and glaciers. Here you'll enjoy a scenic tour which includes visits to Kirkjufell – one of Iceland’s most iconic mountains – the remarkable basalt formations of Arnarstapi, and the stark beauty of Djúpalónssandur – a black pebble beach with sea-sculpted lava rock and fascinating shipwreck remnants.

At the heart of the peninsula lies the mystical Snæfellsjökull glacier. Stop for a cosy local lunch in a charming coastal village before preparing for the day’s highlight: the total solar eclipse. As the late afternoon approaches, your guides will determine the best location for viewing based on local weather and visibility conditions. The eclipse is expected to begin forming at approximately 16:24 GMT. Witness the sky darken and the sun’s corona glow in a rare moment of cosmic alignment. The total eclipse will last around 2 minutes, but the full experience unfolds over roughly 2 hours. Return to your hotel for a relaxed evening and dinner.

  • Day 4 » South coast wonders – waterfalls & black sand beaches (13 August 2026)

Following breakfast, depart with your guide for a journey along Iceland’s breathtaking south coast, an area known for its dramatic contrasts—lush farmlands, towering volcanoes and gleaming glaciers. On a clear day, you’ll have views of two of Iceland’s most famous volcanoes: Mount Hekla, one of the country’s most active, and Eyjafjallajökull, which made headlines worldwide during its 2010 eruption. Your first stop is a visit to Seljalandsfoss, a graceful waterfall that cascades over a cliff (you can actually walk behind it for a unique perspective). Continue on to Skógafoss, a powerful waterfall that plunges 60 metres from a cliff edge and often produces rainbows in its mist.

Then it’s off to Reynisfjara, the famous black sand beach near the village of Vík. Here, marvel at the basalt sea stacks, roaring Atlantic waves and the eerie beauty of this otherworldly coastline. In the late afternoon, travel to the geothermal town of Hveragerði, known for its hot springs, where you will spend the night.

  • Day 5 » Blue Lagoon & return to Reykjavik (14 August 2026)

This region is home to steaming lava fields, dramatic cliffs and hot springs, so this offers a final chance to experience Iceland’s raw natural beauty.

Then, arrive at the world-renowned Blue Lagoon for a relaxing and rejuvenating soak in the mineral-rich geothermal waters. Your Comfort Package includes towel rental, a silica mud mask and one drink of your choice. You'll relax as you float in the warm, milky-blue waters surrounded by black lava rock—this is a quintessential Icelandic experience. Later in the afternoon, return to Reykjavik where your guide bids you farewell. The evening is free for you to enjoy the capital at your own pace.
