Tucked away in the remote forests of the Rane River valley in Swedish Lapland, around an hour north of Lulea, the Aurora Safari Camp pairs a serene wilderness setting with homely accommodation and first-class, personalised hospitality. It’s a perfect choice for a secluded and intimate retreat where you’ll feel totally immersed in nature, while enjoying a host of thrilling activities and superb, locally-sourced cuisine throughout your stay.

Eat

Meals are served in the cosy dining cabin, prepared by your hosts using seasonal, local produce and inspired by the culinary traditions of Swedish Lapland. All stays at the Aurora Safari Camp are fully catered, ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience while introducing you to authentic regional cuisine. Lunches may be cooked and served outdoors, depending on which activities you wish to partake in. There's also a small bar stocked with beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks.

Sleep

There are just five lodgings in total: three tipi cabins and two cone rooms. The timber-clad tipi cabins (with a capacity of 1-4 people) bear a resemblance to a traditional Sami 'lavvu' and come with a north-facing glass veranda, from which you can keep an eye out for the Northern Lights. They're kept warm by a combination of electrical heating and a pellet burning stove, which creates a cosy ambience akin to a fireplace. The cone rooms (for up to two people) have a glass roof and panoramic, north-facing windows. All accommodation types come with an en-suite bathroom.

Do

Throughout your stay, you'll have access to a range of winter equipment for exploring the snowy surroundings, including Nordic skis, snowshoes and winter bikes. You can also choose from two saunas – one in the forest, another embedded in the frozen lake – when you fancy booking a private session to relax and warm up in true Scandinavian style. The Aurora Safari Camp also offers a whole host of optional excursions (all of which are private), ranging from snowmobile tours and husky safaris to ice fishing and horse riding. There's even the possibility of a wilderness dinner cooked over an open fire under the stars, or a gastronomic tasting experience showcasing the finest flavours of Swedish Lapland. And of course, there are numerous guided tours focused around the Northern Lights, such as a snowshoe hike, a kick-sled tour and an aurora photography workshop.
