With landscapes frozen under a thick blanket of snow, deep winter is Swedish Lapland in its most magical form. And it’s showcased to perfection in this thrilling Arctic break, which begins with a stay at the world-famous ICEHOTEL before a husky-sled ride across vast,  tundra brings you to your luxury, private log cabin on the frozen shores of Lake Väkkärä.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » UK to ICEHOTEL, Kiruna

After your flight to Kiruna, transfer to the ICEHOTEL, nestled deep in Swedish Lapland’s frozen wilderness. Marvel at its beautifully carved ice sculptures, created anew each year, before heading to dinner at one of the ICEHOTEL’s three restaurants. There’s everything from cosy and traditional dining to ice menus and the indulgent ‘Chef’s Table’ on the Veranda, where multi-course tasting menus feature local delicacies paired with a world-spanning collection of wines. It’s then time to bunk down in your Ice Room, snug with reindeer furs and Arctic thermal sleeping bags, for a night to remember.

    Stay: ICEHOTEL, Jukkasjärvi

  • Day 2 » Kiruna to Fjellborg Arctic Lodge

Wake to a glass of hot lingonberry juice, breakfast and a sauna before heading to the pine-clad cabins of Fjellborg Arctic Lodge, reachable only via husky sled. It’s an unforgettable experience, mushing your team of dogs to your waiting Master Cabin, of which you’ll have exclusive use. Here, blonde timber-panelled walls, bear skin rugs and antique skis offer the ultimate in Scandi Arctic chic, served up alongside a private sauna and hot tub. Tonight, enjoy the likes of fish, game and wild mushrooms plucked fresh from wild outdoors.

  • Day 3 » Snowshoeing and snowmobiling

After breakfast in your cabin, explore the silent landscape with a snowshoe trek, stopping along the way for homemade snacks and hot chocolate. Then, swap the quietude for the thrills of a snowmobile ride, as you zoom across the frozen tundra to a wilderness hut for lunch served by an open fire. The day culminates with a sauna session and soak in your private hot tub overlooking the lake and starlit sky, interspersed, luck depending, with the shimmer of the aurora borealis.

  • Day 4 » Ice fishing and ICEHOTEL tour

Enjoy classic Lappish adventures today as you head out, armed with reindeer skins and an ice drill, for a private ice fishing excursion. Later, having returned to the lodge, tuck into a final gourmet dinner, enjoyed in your luxurious cabin or served by candlelight in the main lodge.
