Discover Lulea's fascinating history and frozen sea surrounds

» 2-hour excursion. Operates Dec to Apr

» Price from: £75

Luleå is surrounded by ocean and is one of the few places in the Lapland region where the sea ice freezes over up to a metre thick. This means, from December through April, Luleå is extended into a frozen wonderland of snow and ice trails, where you can snowshoe, skate, walk and sled across the bay directly from the city centre. On this two-hour excursion, a local guide will collect you from the city centre to take you and a group on a two-hour walking tour of the area, with the chance to go ice skating and head out on the walking trails on the river ice. You'll also learn about Luleå's fascinating history and its important role in the development of the north of Sweden since the 1300s.
