The Thon Hotel, a member of one of Norway’s largest hotel chains, is situated in a fantastic location in the centre of Tromso, close to the city’s main transport hub and innumerable daytime and late-night attractions. For other meals, we suggest you explore Tromso's vibrant culinary scene. A block away from the hotel, the dreamy Emmas Drommekjokken, a classy establishment specialising in gourmet Norwegian food is well worth a visit. Try the perennial favourites, fish au gratin and short-dried cod, alongside the seasonal specials. Even closer, De 4 Roser is a great place to stop for lunch.
Sleep
If you can, try and grab a sixth floor room at Thon Hotel, as these are larger and also boast the best views, over the fjord-bound town to the mountains all around. Rooms on each floor are sleek and understated, with wooden floors and relaxing decor, equipped with all mod cons and en suite bathrooms. If you'd like a sofa and a little more space to entertain, then a Superior Room is the way to go.

You get the best of both worlds in Tromso. As you are in a town, there are plenty of urban pursuits to enjoy, from sophisticated restaurants and buzzy cafes, to informative museums, edgy galleries and the extraordinary architecture of the Arctic Cathedral. It’s just as easy to take a walk or a ride on the wild side by embarking on any number of exciting Arctic adventures, by strapping on a pair of snowshoes or heading out on a dogsled over frozen fjords and epic mountainsides, chasing the Northern Lights or catching a Hurtigruten cruise.
