North facing and tucked away in the remote Lyngen Alps, this lodge escape is perfectly poised for spotting both the whales that ply its fjord setting and, crucially, the Northern Lights. And, when you’ve returned from the full range of winter and summer activities, you’ll be able to warm up with its fireside, log-cabin cosiness, not to mention the sauna, outdoor hot tub and indulgent dining. What’s more, with just nine rooms, it’s all delightfully intimate.
Eat
Dining is a real treat at Lyngen Experience. Breakfasts are a hearty affair, fuelling you up for the day’s activities, while dinners are a “chef’s choice” delight. Making use of fresh, local ingredients, menus follow the seasons; expect fish from the local fjord and lamb from the surrounding mountains. The excellent half-board rates even include afternoon coffee and snacks, while lunches are often taken out and about on excursion.
Sleep
From the sauna and outdoor hot tub to the expansive deck and floor-to-ceiling views of the restaurant, lodge life revolves around the communal areas. Then, when it’s time to turn in, you’ll be treated to smart, understated rooms – all plush furnishings and clean, Scandi lines. In short, Lyngen Experience is all about the, ahem, experience. See below.
