Day 2 » Husky safari & New Year's Eve dinner
Today sees you enjoy a true Scandinavian highlight – a husky safari. You'll start off with a lesson on how to control your sled before harnessing your team of eager dogs and heading off into the snow-dusted wilds. Riding two to a sled – one driving and the other enjoying the view – you'll follow remote forest trails, pausing halfway to swap drivers before enjoying a meal in the outdoors or, if it's a bit too cold, back at the dog yard around a roaring fire. Then, having returned to Malangen, perhaps enjoy a relaxing session in the glass-front sauna looking over the ice-slicked fjord, or soak in the open air hot tub (supplement applies) before getting ready for tonight's celebrations. You'll enjoy a sparkling wine toast in the cosy Naust Pub to start before heading for a five-course gala dinner accompanied by live music and, naturally, a midnight firework show.

You'll have two days free to enjoy optional excursions. Perhaps head out into the wintery wilds on a snowmobile to the remote Tamok Valley, traversing through dramatic ice-slicked forests and Arctic tundra. Or, maybe head cross-country skiing through the silent pine forests before hot drinks by an open fire, or discover the enchanting stories of the indigenous Sami people, joining a Sami storyteller in a lavvu and even feeding and lassoing a reindeer. Then, in the evening, after another three-course dinner, why not head out to cosy Camp Nikka to hunt for the Northern Lights. Set up your camera in preparation to capture the psychedelic ballet – and not to worry if you later fall asleep, as there's a Northern Lights alarm on hand should the dazzling tendrils of the aurora emerge.
