Located two-and-a-half hour’s east of Tromso, Lyngen Lodge is one of Arctic Norway's most luxurious wilderness hotels. Overlooking a beautiful fjord in the shadow of the Lyngen Alps, its roaring fires, floor-to-ceiling windows and gourmet dining offer a wonderfully cosy and cosseting base from which to explore northern Norway’s awesome Arctic landscapes, and catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. This tailor-made itinerary includes a night in Tromso and a further three nights at Lyngen Lodge where included husky and snowmobile tours help bring your Arctic adventure to life.

Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » Tromso

Fly to Tromsø and take your private transfer to the Clarion Hotel The Edge, situated right by the harbour. Spend the rest of the day exploring at your own pace, perhaps visiting the city’s museums and art galleries before dining out at one of Tromsø’s celebrated restaurants – we recommend Emmas Drømmekjøkken or seafood specialists Fiskekompaniet. To round off your first day in style, be sure to add on a Northern Lights hunt, bringing out to a series of aurora basecamps deep into the snow-covered wilderness.

    Stay: Clarion Hotel The Edge

  • Day 2 » Lyngen Lodge

After breakfast, set out for Lyngen Lodge. Catering for just 18 guests, this stylish boutique hotel features a sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi among its facilities, as well as a delightful lounge complete with open fires, faux-fur throws, comfy sofas and floor-to-ceiling windows framing views across the adjacent fjord. In the evening, after the first of your included gourmet dinners, you’ll join a Northern Lights presentation complete with photography tips before heading outside to hopefully catch sight of the aurora and put your newfound knowledge to use for the first time.

    Stay: Lyngen Lodge, Norway

    Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

  • Days 3-4 » Lyngen Lodge

Spend two days exploring majestic Lyngen Alps, with snowmobiling and husky trips included in the price. On your snowmobile excursion, you’ll join an expert guide on a thrilling ride through snow-laden birch forests to arrive on a mountain plateau where you’ll try your hand at ice fishing. After drilling holes through the lake’s frozen surface, you’ll gather around a roaring fire to cook and eat your catch. There’s even time to explore further on your snowmobiles between fishing stops. The next day you’ll head out into the Reisa Valley on a husky safari, learning how to mush a team of eager dogs. Again, a wilderness lunch is included, before your return journey brings you between open valleys and jagged peaks back to the cosy comforts of the lodge.

    Stay: Lyngen Lodge, Norway

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Day 5 » Depart for UK

After a final delicious breakfast at Lyngen Lodge, transfer back to Tromsø in time for your flight home.
