Day 4 » Trondheim
This morning, you'll dock in the historic city of Trondheim. Founded by the Vikings over a thousand years ago, Norway's third largest city is perhaps the country's most historically significant. Boasting the likes of the Kristiansten fortress, Nidaros cathedral and the Bakklandet neighbourhood along the Nidelva river, these historic sights offer a glimpse into Trondheim's rich well-preserved past. To make the most of this wonderful city, we recommend taking up one of the optional excursions on offer; perhaps discovering the city by vintage tram, or exploring its hidden corners through an immersive walking tour. Enjoy dinner back on board as you continue out into the stunning coastal archipelago, heading for northern Norway.

Day 5 » Enter the Arctic Circle & Lofoten Islands
Enjoy breakfast as you pass small villages, towards today's first stop, Bronnoysund, situated on a narrow peninsula connected to the mainland. After further stops at Sandnessjoen and Nesna, passing along thousands of small islets and skerries through the ultra-scenic Helgeland coast – Norway's best kept secret – on board celebrations will mark the crossing of the Arctic Circle. There will be a chance to experience local culture with an optional excursion in Stamsund featuring a Viking banquet. This evening, the Lofoten Island's sleepy fishing villages and pointy mountain peaks await, with a notable visit to Svolvaer – the capital of this stunning archipelago – where you'll have the option of a brewery visit with local beer tasting. If you are travelling in summer, you'll be treated to your first glimpse of the Midnight Sun.

Day 6 » Tromso
The voyage continues this morning through narrow fjords and wild mountains to the "Paris of the north" Tromso, a city characterised by hunting, fishing and historic polar expeditions. This is truly where your arctic adventure begins. For panoramic views of the city, a ride up the cable car to Mount Storsteinen is a must. But, Tromso is also famous for being the biggest settlement in the land of the Sami people, with ancient traditions still practiced in the city and the wider region. Perhaps opt for an optional tour of this lively city and discover its rich culture, history as well as notable architecture such as Ishavskatedralen, the eye-catching Arctic Cathedral. You'll also have the option to meet Sami locals and their reindeer while hearing about their unique culture and how they not just survive but thrive above the Arctic Circle.
Stay: Havila
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
-
Day 7 » The North Cape
Having left the lights of Tromso behind, today you'll venture as far north as you can get by land, to the North Cape. We recommend disembarking at Honningsvåg for a chance to stand on the European Continent’s most northerly point. Up here in the polar landscape, nature is at its harshest, though during the summer it is possible to catch a glimpse of reindeer herds grazing the barren plateau. Why not make the most of another of the optional excursions on offer, with a king crab fishing experience including a chance to taste your catch.
Stay: Havila
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
-
Day 8 » Kirkenes
The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic as you approach Kirkenes, an incredible 400km above the Arctic Circle, and the furthest point of the voyage. As a frontier town further east than Istanbul, Kirkenes enjoys the Midnight Sun for more than 2 months a year. During the summer, we recommend taking the option of a RIB boat fishing trip for a chance of catching some king crab fresh from the Barents Sea. Further options include a tour of this small but intriguing town.
Stay: Havila
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
-
Day 9 » Southbound towards Tromso
The polar landscape changes once more as you sail towards the west and south. The great expanses are replaced by steep peaks, as you pass through the towns of Mehamn, Kjollefjord, Honningsvåg and Hammerfest before sailing into Tromso this evening. Why not experience a midnight concert in Tromso's Arctic Cathedral, or take a stroll along the city's colourful streets under the Midnight Sun.
Stay: Havila
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
-
Day 10 » Towards Svolvaer & the Lofoten Islands
This morning, enjoy breakfast as you sail south, back through the wilds of the Lofoten Islands. Beneath the jagged mountains lie chalky white sand beaches and fishing villages with a vibrant fishing industry. If the weather permits, we will enter the narrow Trollfjord. There is a strong possibility of spotting sea eagles here. Hiking and horse-riding along the fjords are further highlights possible to book here.
Stay: Havila
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 11 » Bodo & beyond
Having sailed through the scenic Lofoten Islands through the night, this morning you'll pass Bodo and then across the Arctic Circle once more. You'll sail past a myriad of small islands, with your route then taking you past the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Vega Islands which is possible to explore on one of the optional excursions. You'll also pass the notable Torghatten mountain. Rising 258 metres vertically from the sea and featuring a small distinctive hole straight through the middle, it plays a heroic role in the Nordland fairy tale of trolls and is said to be the ancient Brønnøy King’s hat. If you wish, it is possible enter the hole on a short hiking excursion.
Stay: Havila
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 12 » Trondheim to Ålesund
Today, you'll sail through the vast Trondheim fjord that is surrounded by pretty rolling farmland on both sides, returning to the coast and the open Atlantic. Why not disembark in Kristiansund on one of the optional excursions and be driven along the Atlantic Ocean Road, which has been dubbed the world's most beautiful drive. Meandering through a series of small islands and islets via a set of bridges, it connects the mainland with the municipality of Averoy. Afterwards you can re-embark in Molde, sailing on towards Ålesund.
