Spotting a cutesy harbour porpoise playing in your ship’s wake or a giant humpback making a sweeping breach has to be one of the world’s greatest wildlife-watching experiences. This expert-led excursion is a particular favourite for its special offer; if you don’t have a sighting, you’ll receive a ticket to go again, completely free of charge.

It all begins from Reykjavik’s central harbour, where you’ll board your comfortable expedition boat, ideally designed with a cosy interior and large outside viewing decks. It’s even one of Iceland’s fastest whale-watching ships, maximising your time spent with these magnificent creatures. And, as you set off, the captain and crew will be on hand to keep you educated on the whales and local birdlife. You’ll soon be in Faxaflói Bay, where your hosts will make use of their expert local knowledge to point you towards everything from humpbacks and minke whales to harbour porpoises and white-beaked dolphins. You’ll also be glad to hear that this is a proudly responsible tour, following IceWhale’s code of conduct to ensure that your great viewings don’t disturb the daily routine of the whales. Lastly, those travelling between May and mid-August have the option of adding on a trip to the puffins of Akurey Island
