Iso-Syote is located on a wooded peak among the plains of central Finland, surrounded by the rich scenes of the famous Finnish wilderness. Modern elegance is the order of the day, with large lodge-like buildings scattered across the quiet hilltop. Such spectacular surrounds mean that many rooms offer fabulous views and abundant excursions around the surrounding area are available from the hotel – downhill skiing, river rafting, fishing trips and Nordic walking tours, to name a few. Finland is a land of a million saunas and the Iso-Syote has two – free to use – for guests at any time of the day.

Eat

There are various culinary options at the Iso-Syote, from fine wine to fireside dining. The hotel’s Panorama restaurant unsurprisingly offers breathtaking views, as well as an excellent and hearty breakfast, healthy lunch options and an evening buffet, matched with a carefully selected wine list. For a more traditional dining experience, guests can opt for the Kota Hanhilampi, a wilderness dinner made from local ingredients and cooked on an open fire, which takes place in a nearby cabin. Other options include the Romekievari ski restaurant and bar, and the Snapsibaari bar, which regularly hosts live music

Sleep

All rooms, cottages and suites are smartly designed, with plenty of Nordic style and especially cosy in the winter months. We highly recommend a stay in one of the Aurora View Suites, duplex rooms complete with wilderness views and private hot tubs. Then, there's the new BearCave Suite and the Eagles View Suite, huge, stylish spaces with wood panelled walls and floor-to-ceiling windows, perfect for spotting the Northern Lights. A private sauna and Jacuzzi complement the ultra-luxurious feel. Call our specialists for the full range of accommodation options available.

Do

The hotel offers an extensive range of excursions including canoe safaris, quad safaris, Nordic walking tours, river rafting, fishing trips, 4x4 driving experiences and visits to reindeer and husky farms. During the summer months, guests can enjoy the continuous light of the Midnight Sun and, in winter, keep an eye to the sky for the northern lights. There’s plenty of space to relax at the hotel, with two spacious saunas, a 14-metre swimming pool and an Arctic spa offering body and beauty treatments.
