Day 1 » UK to Kajaani
Depart the UK with a flight to Kajaani – deep within Finland's Arctic Lakeland – before transferring to the your hotel on arrival. Set within the sparsely populated remote region of Kainuu, the Arctic Giant Birdhouse Hotel overlooks great swathes of taiga forest and undisturbed frozen lakes. Take in the spellbinding views from your chosen accommodation, whether it's a luxurious birdhouse boasting its own sauna or the panoramic house complete with warm decor, featuring its own private outdoor hot tub. A tasty 3-course dinner is served at the on-site restaurant this evening.

Day 2 » Ice fishing & Northern lights aurora camp
Start the day with a breakfast fit for giants as you enjoy panoramic views from the restaurant. The first of your included excursions today sees you travel on a snowmobile sleigh to the vast icy Lake Oulujärvi where you'll try your hand at traditional ice fishing. The lake's resident perch will be the aim of the day as your guide introduces you to the secrets of winter fishing in their ancestral land. Afterwards, enjoy the picnic lunch on the campfire before returning to the hotel.
Back at the hotel your afternoon will be at leisure to enjoy as you wish. Speak to our specialists if you wish to participate in additional excursions with the likes of snowshoeing or electric fat biking on offer. Ensure you are back in time for your evening aurora camp excursion. Travelling out into the wild, your guide will take you to a nearby aurora camp where the experience begins. Once the camp fire is set up, the fun begins with a delicious tasting experience as you sample local Kainuu food. You'll keep an eye out to the starry sky for a chance to spot the fabled Northern Lights.

Day 3 » Snowmobiling in the wilderness
Today you'll have a chance to venture into the untamed wild with an included snowmobiling adventure. Starting at the hotel, you'll be led into the frozen forests of the Kainuu region on a 20-30km trail through fairytale landscapes of snow-topped pine trees and frozen lakes. Make a stop in the middle of the trip for a camp fire, hot drink and local snack in the forest. After returning back to the hotel, spend the day as you wish. Enjoy a final dinner tonight at the Makuhelmi restaurant before a relaxing sauna or Jacuzzi back in your room, making sure to keep your eyes peeling for a chance to witness the dancing aurora from your the comfort of your cabin.
