Depart the UK for Helsinki, where you’ll connect with your onward flight to Ivalo, one of Finland’s northernmost towns. From here you are transferred straight to Wilderness Hotel Muotka .

Day 2 » Muotka Wilderness Lodge
The first activity begins after breakfast, and combines modern technology with an ancient tradition. Take a snowmobile through the wilderness to a reindeer farm, where you’ll meet the herders and learn a few of their husbandry skills, including how to throw a lasso and how to ride a sleigh. Upon return to the lodge, have dinner and venture out once more in search of the Northern Lights.

Day 3 » Muotka Wilderness Lodge
Yesterday reindeer, today another symbolic animal of the north: the husky. Your guide will take you to a nearby kennel where you’ll meet these intelligent dogs, learn how to handle them and then jump straight onto the trail. Set off into the wilderness, enjoying the thrill of the ride, the Arctic scenery and a lunch cooked over a fire before returning to the Lodge. Later that evening head on a hunt for the aurora by snowmobile. Inari is a hot spot for the Northern Lights, so hope you are rewarded with a spectacular display.

Day 4 » Muotka Wilderness Lodge
There’s a whole snowy expanse to discover and delight in around the lodge, so put on a pair of snowshoes and spend the morning hiking, swapping them for cross-country skis in the afternoon.
