Day by day itinerary

  • Day 1 » Depart for Rovaniemi

Your holiday begins by flying from the UK to Rovaniemi, the gateway to Finnish Lapland. On arrival, a private transfer will be waiting to take you to the Hidden Arctic Cloud Villas, discreetly tucked away in a forest around 20 minutes outside the city centre. You’ll be welcomed by your personal host who’ll run through your itinerary. Combining a classic Lappish aesthetic with sleek, contemporary design, the villas epitomise Nordic luxury at its finest. Each one comes with a sauna, an outdoor terrace and Jacuzzi, three bedrooms, a spacious lounge with a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows with delightful views of the surrounding Arctic nature.

Later on, a private chef will prepare the first delicious evening meal of your stay. The menu can be tailored to your tastes and dietary requirements, while focusing on quality ingredients from local producers that showcase the authentic flavours of Lapland. Afterwards, you might fancy a relaxing session in the sauna or a soak in your private outdoor Jacuzzi.

  • Day 2 » Husky sledding & ice floating

After enjoying breakfast prepared by your private chef, you’ll head to a local husky farm for a thrilling husky sledding adventure, gliding along snowy trails and past frozen lakes. Two people share a sled, with one person 'mushing' as the other sits below, with the opportunity to switch roles along the way. A hearty lunch then awaits at the nearby Rakas Restaurant, which showcases authentic Lappish cuisine prepared with fresh, locally sourced produce.

The afternoon is free for you to relax or perhaps enjoy an optional excursion such a snowmobiling. Enjoy another delightful dinner at Rakas Restaurant, followed by a private ice floating session, as you drift effortlessly on an icy lake while wearing an insulated thermal suit, surrounded by the snow-blanketed forests. It’s a truly special way to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Arctic nature. If the skies are clear, you might be fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights dancing in the night sky while you float on the lake.

  • Day 3 » Private island, sauna & Northern Lights hunt

Start your day with a leisurely breakfast at your villa before visiting Vartiosaari Private Island – an exclusive, guests-only property on the Kemijoki River, accessible via a 70-metre bridge. After a private tour of the island, it's time for a classic Finnish wellness experience as you warm up in a wood-fired sauna, perhaps followed by a quick plunge in the snow outside (if you're feeling brave). Enjoy lunch at the restaurant on the private island before returning to your villa for the afternoon.

Later on, you'll venture out in search of the Northern Lights with a local guide, who'll track the latest weather conditions and solar activity to find an optimal viewing spot. Learn about the science behind the aurora and enjoy some hot drinks and snacks while you wait for the Northern Lights to cast their ethereal glow in the night sky. Should you be lucky enough to see them, your guide will help you take photographs to capture the spectacle.

  • Day 4 » Wool sock nature walk & reindeer experience

Today, you'll experience a totally different way of exploring the Arctic nature as you pull on a pair (or several pairs) of thick wool socks for a hike through the forest. Similar to barefoot walking, but adapted for winter conditions, it activates all the muscles of the foot and increases circulation as you crunch, satisfyingly, through the snow. Afterwards, enjoy a well-earned hot lunch and drinks at Rakas Restaurant. The afternoon is then yours to spend at leisure.

In the evening, you'll visit a local reindeer farm, learning about their importance to the region's indigenous Sámi people and venturing out on a sleigh ride, gliding through the forest by moonlight. You'll soon arrive at a traditional 'kota' tent, where you'll warm up next to a campfire and enjoy some hot drinks and snacks. As ever, keep your eyes peeled for the Northern Lights – there's a good chance you'll see them if the sky is clear and there's sufficient solar activity.

  • Day 5 » Return to UK

There’s time for one last breakfast cooked before you check out of your villa. Depending on your flight time, we can arrange for you to visit one of Rovaniemi’s top attractions, such as the Arktikum museum and science centre or Santa Claus Village, where you can snap a photo while standing directly on the Arctic Circle. A private transfer will take you to the airport to catch your flight home.
