The capital is an exciting, atmospheric, atypical Danish city. It has a beautiful, historic centre, a large number of cultural offerings and some decent museums. Compact and welcoming, it’s very easy to explore, with a large pedestrianised area and plenty of cafés, bars and live music venues to discover; there are more than a dozen Michelin-starred restaurants to eat in as well.
Elsewhere on Zealand if you're looking for a day trip from Copenhagen, find fine beaches, attractive lakes and forests to explore on foot or by bike. Top up your tan on the Amager Strandpark beach, hang out at the world’s oldest amusement park at Tivoli and make time to visit the spectacular 17th century castle in Hillerod and the magnificent modern art gallery in Humlebaek.
