Sleep
Luxury rooms even at their most simple level are pure Scandi-chic, featuring white wood-panelled walls and private terraces, and all guests have access to an outdoor Jacuzzi. Go one up, however, and you're greeted with enormous suites in hues of white and stunning dark wood floors, with four poster fur-strewn beds, fireplaces, patios with a barbecue grill and private hot tubs for optimum star gazing.
Do
Typically for Iceland, it's outside's scenery that commands most of the attention. Just moments from your hotel lies the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, best witnessed with a self-drive along the impressive Golden Circle, from the awe-inspiring Gullfoss waterfall to the azure geothermal bath of the Blue Lagoon. Horse riding tours and even snorkelling or diving in the crystal clear waters are other wonderful ways to witness Iceland's most arresting natural landscapes, or for the adventurous, head out quad biking, snowmobiling or glacier hiking. Most spectacular, though, is those revered Northern Lights, as they – with luck – cast their spell whilst you watch from below in your hot tub.
